The Economist recently published an article indicating that students wishing to maximize their earning potential have to consider two strategies:
- gaining admissions into a highly selective university
- pursuing a field of study in either Computer Science/Math/Physics or Economics
By their statistics, graduates from top ranked universities with these degrees out earned their peers in other majors. Graduates from University of Pennsylvania with the mentioned degrees received highest incomes after graduation with a median annual income of $USD135000. Data only included graduates who applied for federal loans.
